About Nia® Classes
-
Nia is a joy-filled, barefoot movement practice that blends dance, martial arts, and healing arts to create a full-body workout that nourishes your mind, body, and spirit. Unlike traditional fitness classes, Nia invites you to move with intention, sensation, and awareness. It's low-impact, deeply grounding, and beautifully expressive, perfect for anyone craving movement that feels as good as it is effective.
-
Absolutely not! No dance background is required. My Nia classes are designed for every body—no matter your age, shape, or level of experience. Whether you’re brand new to movement or have danced your whole life, you’ll find a welcoming space to move, explore, and feel empowered in your body.
-
In my classes, you can expect a warm welcome, uplifting music, and movement that connects you to your body’s wisdom. Each class begins with a gentle warm-up, builds into dynamic, energizing movement, and ends with grounding floorplay or stretching. I weave in mindfulness and somatic awareness throughout, so you leave class feeling not just stronger, but lighter, clearer, and more alive.
-
Both! I teach live weekly Nia classes on Zoom so you can join from anywhere in the world. I also offer in-person classes and workshops in Oregon, and you can dance with me anytime via Nia On Demand, where I have several routines available to fit your schedule.
-
Wear comfortable, breathable clothes that allow for ease of movement (for example: leggings or athletic shorts paired with a moisture-wicking top) Many participants also choose to dance barefoot or wear grippy socks for better connection with the floor during the class.
-
Yes, and more! Nia offers a full-body cardiovascular workout that also improves strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination.
But more than that, it’s a feel-good workout.
You’ll build physical fitness, but you’ll also gain emotional resilience, mental clarity, and a deeper connection to your body. Plus, yes – you’ll likely break a sweat with a smile on your face!
-
Easy! Just head over to the Class Schedule page and click the “Register” button next to the class you’d like to attend. For online classes, you’ll receive a Zoom link right after you sign up.
