Preparing for Your First Nia® White Belt Training: What to Expect
Saying Yes to Something Bigger
You love Nia®. You feel it in your body, your heart, your spirit. And now, something inside is whispering: Go deeper.
Many Nia® students reach a turning point—when the joy of class sparks a longing for more. More embodiment, more community, more understanding of the powerful practice that’s been quietly transforming their lives.
Nia® White Belt Training offers more than education—it’s a week-long immersion in movement, mindfulness, and magic. Whether you're pursuing certification or personal transformation, this post will help you know what to expect, how to prepare, and how to say yes to the next chapter of your journey.
Your purpose is calling. Are you ready to listen?
What Is the Nia® White Belt Training?
The Nia® White Belt Training is a 7-day, in-person immersion into the Art of Sensation—it’s an experience that’s designed to connect you to your body and your purpose. Whether you're exploring Nia® certification or seeking personal growth, this training in movement with intent meets you exactly where you are and invites you to bring a curious mind. It’s open to anyone seeking transformation.
During the week, you’ll be introduced to Nia®’s 13 core principles. This includes everything from joyful movement to energetic awareness and emotional expression. It’s a powerful combination of science, spirit, and self-awareness, woven through 32 hours of in-person, embodied learning.
You’ll move through 10 integrated Nia® classes, explore the 9 movement forms (including dance, martial and healing arts), and learn practices that build body literacy, cultivate presence, and emphasize personal power—skills that extend beyond the studio.
The experience also lasts beyond training. You’ll receive an 18-week integration program that includes videos, journaling prompts, and booklets to help you digest and apply everything you’ve learned. You’ll also become part of an empowering, supportive, global Nia® community, where rhythmic connection and inspiration continue to flow.
Whether you’re called to teach or simply want to spend time reconnecting with yourself, finding that inner self-love, Nia® White Belt Training is an invitation to listen deeply, move intentionally, and live more joyfully. It’s a transformational journey.
Is This Training Right for You?
The Nia® White Belt Training is more than a movement course—it’s an invitation to come home to your body, your spirit, and your joy. It’s especially powerful for women over 40 who are craving something more: more connection, more freedom, more meaning. Whether you’re new to Nia or a longtime student, this training offers a deeply personal and transformative experience. No matter your reason, somatic movement encourages personal growth.
So, who attends Nia® White Belt Training? Women amid the sea of life’s transitions—like empty nesters, women undergoing career shifts, or women healing from injury—often find empowerment here. Women like dancers, yogis, creatives, and seekers—women who are curious about the freedom of finding oneself through movement—come to reconnect with their bodies. Nia® White Belt Training is simply for any woman feeling the call to reclaim joy, expression, and embodiment.
You do not have to want to teach Nia® to take White Belt Training. In truth, many attend for their own healing, awakening, or somatic personal growth. If you do want to teach, however, this is your first step toward becoming certified a Nia® teacher.
Whether you come to move, to heal, to grow, or empower other women, this training creates the space for your transformation. If your soul is yearning for that next step to feel joy and purpose, listen. Nia® White Belt Training a life-changing journey—and it begins with one step.
What to Expect During the Training Week
The Nia® White Belt Training is a powerful blend of movement, mindfulness, and meaningful connection. Over the course of seven days, you’ll follow the Nia® White Belt Training daily schedule to immerse yourself in a unique and transformative somatic movement experience that supports deep personal growth—whether you're exploring dance teacher training for adults, or yearning to feel home in your own body again.
The Daily Flow
Each day begins with a morning Nia® class that invites you to embody one of the Nia® 13 White Belt principles. These classes are joyful, accessible, and grounded in sensation—they prepare you for the day ahead of finding your purpose again.
Following class, you’re welcomed to guided learning sessions, where you’ll explore the core of Nia® through discussion, journaling, and partner exercises. In the afternoon, you’ll dive into practice and movement labs—hands-on opportunities to explore the limitlessness of Nia®.
There’s also time for reflection, rest, and connection—so you’re never overwhelmed, only transformed.
The Environment
The space created during Nia® White Belt Training provides a supportive container where embodiment is valued and emphasized over performance. You’re encouraged to follow your own rhythm—your body, your pace. All movement is adaptable, so you never have to overexert yourself. At its heart, Nia® is about you and your own capabilities, and fostering that connection.
The environment is one of deep community connection and growing together. We thrive and heal through lots of shared joy.
Highlights of the White Belt Experience
Throughout the week, you’ll learn to sense your body in entirely new ways. You’ll succumb to joy, awareness, and sensation as guiding forces—not just in movement, but in your soul. You’ll feel yourself shift, as so many women who have let themselves be free for the week have before you.
And then, there's the moment that many Nia® White Belt Training graduates reflect on as being the moment of transformation—when you truly feel at home in your skin.
This will be the beginning of a whole new chapter for you—when you rediscover purpose, serenity, and joy.
How to Prepare (Body, Mind, Heart)
Preparing for your Nia® White Belt Training isn’t about achieving a certain level of fitness—it’s about showing up, open to possibility and change. This body-mind-spirit workshop is not a performance, but a moment to undergo a metamorphosis. Whether you’re new to movement or a woman over 40 who is exploring dance training, this experience meets you where you are and encourages you to seek what you want.
Prepare Your Body
You don’t need to be “fit”—you need to be willing. Wear comfortable clothes that won’t restrict your body from moving. Nourish your body by staying hydrated. Most importantly, honor your body. If something doesn’t feel right, adapt. If you need rest, let yourself relax and refresh. Trust your body.
Prepare Your Mind
Approach Nia® White Belt Training with curiosity, not expectations. Leave perfectionism at the door—this is about presence, not performance. You’re invited to be a student again—to be inquisitive, to feel. The more you let go, the deeper the transformation.
Prepare Your Heart
Nia® White Belt Training is movement, yes, but also a journey inward. Be ready for joy, grief, clarity, connection—be open to what arises. This is deep inner work, supported by a community of women who seek the same transformation as you.
No matter your reason for taking Nia® White Belt Training, remember: there’s no perfect way to begin and there are no expectations.
