Nia is a transformative holistic fitness practice that beautifully integrates elements of dance, martial arts, and mindfulness. Nia is designed to engage the body, mind, and spirit, promoting a sense of joy and connection through movement. Unlike traditional fitness routines, Nia encourages participants to listen to their bodies and express themselves freely, making it accessible to all fitness levels.

At our retreat in Cambodia, Nia sessions will play a central role in fostering wellness and enhancing your overall experience. Each session will be led by myself or our lovely co-facilitator Debbie Lee Van Ginkel—guiding us through a unique blend of rhythmic dance, fluid martial arts movements, and mindful breathing exercises. These sessions are designed to energize your body while calming the mind, allowing you to release stress and embrace your authentic selves.

Incorporating Nia into our daily schedule during our retreat creates such a joyful atmosphere, encouraging connection between our whole group and the surrounding natural beauty. Visits to Ancient Temples

Explore the breathtaking temples of Angkor, including the iconic Angkor Wat and the serene Bayon Temple. These ancient sites are not just architectural marvels; they are steeped in history and spirituality.We will experience guided tours that foster a deep connection to Cambodia's rich heritage. Walking through these sacred spaces promotes mindfulness, allowing for reflection and appreciation of the artistry and significance behind these cultural treasures.


Local Lotus Farm Tour

Tour the beautiful floating lotus fields and eco textile mill where local Cambodian artisans show how they use every part of the lotus plant to create functional and sustainable textiles. Try your hand at making lotus incense and paper, beading bracelets, all while enjoying lotus tea and the local surroundings!



Kulen Elephant Sanctuary

A half-day trip to the elephant sanctuary at the foothills of the Kulen Mountain is a must! Elephants were used in the tourism industry of Angkor Park for years, and now those retired elephants roam freely and safely in this sanctuary. The focus of the sanctuary is conservation, rehabilitation and education. With only 75 elephants remaining in Cambodia today, your visit makes a very important difference to the future of these incredible creatures!


Cambodian Cooking Class

The venue’s chef Chun will provide cooking classes, including a tour of the old traditional market to shop for fresh products and recipes to choose on their menu with advice on which one can be easily done when you are back home.

 

Packing List Suggestions

In order to prepare for our rejuvenating retreat in Cambodia, here’s a helpful packing list to ensure you’re ready for all activities and experiences:

  • Cool and comfortable clothes for movement and Nia – be prepared to SWEAT (Cambodia is a hot, tropical country)

  • Swimsuits

  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat

  • Comfortable walking shoes for exploring temples

  • US Dollars (note that older USD bills are often not accepted)

  • Personal journal and pen for reflections

  • Camera or smartphone with charger

  • Passport

  • Small backpack or tote bag for day trips
